Artist Bio
Chris has been creating as far back as he can remember. When he was little he preferred to build his own homemade toys. When he was a teenager, he designed and fabricated four micro skis that attached to each wheel on a skateboard allowing it to function on snow or ice. This was before snowboards were even being prototyped. A true Renaissance man, he worked in sales, management, and restaurant ownership before becoming a successful inventor. He was awarded patents and attained global distribution on his revolutionary backcountry snow shovel, SnowClaw. When this business became self-sustaining, it allowed Chris the time to further pursue his artistic passion.
Whether the medium is bronze, steel, glass, or concrete, the one thing evoked by all of Chris’ works is a feeling of movement and flow. He says, “my art reflects my lifestyle and love of the outdoors. I get tremendous inspiration by way of Mother Nature and by experiencing the vast beauty that surrounds us. Nature is so dynamic, dramatic, and expansive. My stone and bronze sculptures capture instances where I have felt utterly alive in nature. I’m trying to recreate the pinnacle moment in each of the activities represented here.” That also comes through in his mixed media pieces where glass is representative of water. He talks about this idea that “wherever there is an abundance of life, there is also water. It has a vibrancy, a flow, and an intense energy that is so incredibly powerful.”
